HERE'S A COUPLE OF SHOTS OF JACKIE NEGOTIATING TURN 7 DURING THE RACE AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1972.
JACKIE STARTED 4TH AND FINISHED 25TH DUE TO DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE.
DENNY HULME WON THE RACE AND BRUCE McLAREN WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
THIS IS "THE TITANIUM CAR" BUILT BY DESIGNER PETER BRYANT. THE CAR HAD A TITANIUM SHEET MONOCOQUE THAT ENDED JUST BEHIND THE DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT AND ALSO USED TITANIUM FOR ENGINE BRACING, ROLL BAR, FOOT PEDALS, SUSPENSION AND STEERING PARTS .
HERE'S A SERIES OF JACKIE OLIVER IN THE SHADOW MKII AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1971. JACKIE STARTED FIFTH AND FINISHED 25TH DUE TO BROKEN DRIVETRAIN. JACKIE FINISHED 14TH IN POINTS FOR THE YEAR.
THIS CAR USED RELATIVELY SMALL TIMES FOR THE GROUP 7 CLASS WITH 18" DIAMETER FRONTS AND 22" DIAMETER REARS. JACKIE FOUGHT A LOOSE CONDITION DURING PRACTICE AND ALSO HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH DEFLATING TIRES.
DENNY HULME WON THE RACE, HIS 20TH CAN-AM WIN. PETER REVSON TOOK THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Shadow MKIII
HERE'S A COUPLE OF SHOTS OF JACKIE NEGOTIATING TURN 6 DURING PRACTICE AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1972. THE THIRD PHOTO IS THE SHADOW DECAL ON THE SIDE OF ONE OF THEIR SUPPORT VEHICLES.JACKIE STARTED 5TH AND FINISHED 4TH. JACKIE WAS 2 LAPS DOWN AT THE FINISH, GOING OUT DUE TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
THIS CAR HAD CONVENTIONAL SIZE WHEELS AND A NEW TURBOCHARGED CHEVROLET ENGINE SPORTING AN ESTIMATED 1200 HP. THE NORMALLY ASPIRATED SHADOW WAS BEING DRIVEN THAT WEEKEND BY NASCAR'S BOBBY ALLISON. THE TURBO CAR ATE THE ENGINE ON SUNDAY MORNING SO JACKIE STARTED IN THE NORMALLY ASPIRATED CAR.
GEORGE FOLLMER WON THE RACE AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN A PORSCHE 917/10K.

HERE'S A GROUPE OF SHOTS OF JACKIE DURING PRACTICE AND IN THE GARAGE AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1973.JACKIE STARTED 9TH AND FINISHED 17TH DUE TO BODY DAMAGE FROM HITTING THE TIRE TURN MARKERS.VIC ELFORD DROVE A SECOND TURBO SHADOW TO A LAST PLACE FINISH, DROPPING OUT WITH THROTTLE LINKAGE PROBLEMS.
MARK DONOHUE WON THE RACE AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN A PORSCHE 917/30K.
