HERE'S ONE OF BRUCE McLAREN ON THE SHORT CHUTE BETWEEN TURNS 6 AND 7 AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1966. BRUCE STARTED ON THE POLE BUT HAD ENGINE TROUBLE DURING THE RACE AND FINISHED 34TH.
HERE'S A GROUP OF BRUCE McLAREN WORKING THE ESSES AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1967. BRUCE STARTED 2ND AND WON THE RACE. BRUCE ALSO WON THE 1967 CHAMPIONSHIP.

HERE'S SOME NICE PICS OF BRUCE McLAREN IN THE PITS AND ON THE TRACK AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1968. THIS CAR HAD THE ALUMINUM BIG BLOCK CHEVROLET. BRUCE GOT THE POLE AND WON THE RACE BY 37 SECONDS OVER 2ND PLACE MARK DONOHUE.
BRUCE FINISHED 2ND IN POINTS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP BEHIND TEAMMATE DENNY HULME.

HERE'S A COUPLE OF NICE PICS OF BRUCE McLAREN AT RIVERSIDE RACEWAY IN OCTOBER 1969. BRUCE IS REALLY LOOKING INTO THE CORNER ON A COUPLE OF THESE. BRUCE STARTED SECOND AND FINISHED 21ST AFTER GOING OFF THE TRACK AND DAMAGING THE CAR AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY TO CORNER WORKERS.
THIS WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR THE WINGED CARS AS AERODYNAMIC RULES OUTLAWED MOVABLE WINGS IN 1970. THIS CAR HAD THE NEW CHEVROLET ALL ALUMINUM LARGE BORE, SHORT STROKE 430 C.I. ENGINE. IT WAS RUMORED TO PUT OUT 680-690 H.P. AT THE REDLINE. THAT WAS SOME SERIOUS HORSEPOWER FOR A NORMALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE. DENNY HULME ONCE CLAIMED THE M8B WAS THE BEST CAR THAT McLAREN EVER BUILT.
BRUCE WON SIX RACES IN 1969 AND TOOK THE THE CHAMPIONSHIP. HIS TEAMMATE, DENNY HULME, WON FIVE RACES AND FINISHED FIVE POINTS BEHIND BRUCE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
